What is the principle of action?
This special pigment laser (called a Q-switched frequency-doubled neodymium YAG laser in the technical jargon) works with the light of two wavelengths, which hits both the light to dark brown melanin pigment of the pigment spots or freckles in the uppermost skin layer and the deep black ink pigment of the tattoos, which often shimmers bluish through the uppermost skin layer.
The short light pulses break down the pigments in question. The resulting tiny particles are then degradable for our body. The minimally short light pulse (in the millionths of a second range) guarantees that the surrounding skin is completely spared and the treatment does not leave any scars.
